MOLECULAR BIOLOGY – ELECTIVE COURSE

 

The program for students of medical universities reflects the current state of development of molecular biological science and takes into account the tasks of teaching it as a discipline for natural science based and professional training of doctors in medical, pediatric, medical and preventive and dental specialties. Modern molecular biology is one of the most advanced and rapidly developing areas of science. It conducts research on topical issues of biomedicine at the molecular level. This area is in close contact with various branches of biology, biochemistry, and especially genetics. The object of molecular biology research is the study of interactions between various cell systems, including the relationship between DNA and RNA, between RNA and protein synthesis, as well as the regulation of these interactions in biological systems. Molecular biology provides a scientific basis for the understanding of the molecular biological mechanisms of emergence of pathologies, hereditary diseases, providing an understanding of the possible consequences and the relationship of man and mankind with nature. It creates a scientific basis for gene and cell therapy at the modern level of development of biomedicine, the introduction of modern developments and achievements in wide environment of medical practice.


The growing role of cognition of the molecular biological foundations of human vital activity at the present stage of development and the interaction of the biosphere and humankind in connection with scientific and technological progress, with the tasks of public health and preventive medicine determines the significance of molecular biology as one of the essential disciplines in the system of medical education.


When compiling the program, there were taken into account comprehensive knowledge of medical education and the coordination of teaching and learning with related and subsequent biomedical and clinical disciplines.
